Σχετικά με τη διακοπή εκπομπής του ξενόγλωσσου προγράμματος Athens International Radio του δημοτικού ραδιοφωνικού σταθμού 9,84 του Δήμου Αθηναίων, το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο της ΕΣΗΕΑ επισημαίνει ότι το θολό και άναρχο τοπίο που για χρόνια επικρατεί στον τομέα ραδιοτηλεοπτικών σταθμών και συχνοτήτων δεν μπορεί να αποτελέσει άλλοθι για τη διακοπή λειτουργίας του μόνου ξενόγλωσσου ραδιοφωνικού σταθμού, που απευθυνόταν αποκλειστικά στους μετανάστες, οι οποίοι ζουν και εργάζονται στη χώρα μας.
Ο Air 104,4 προσφέροντας, χωρίς εμπορικά κίνητρα, ενημέρωση και ψυχαγωγία στους μετανάστες και τους ξενόγλωσσους συμπολίτες μας, που εργάζονται στη χώρα μας, σε δεκαέξι γλώσσες παρείχε εξαιρετικές υπηρεσίες, συμβάλλοντας στη διατήρηση των δεσμών με τις χώρες προέλευσης και καταγωγής τους και τη διατήρηση της πολιτισμικής τους ταυτότητας.
Το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο της ΕΣΗΕΑ ζητεί την άμεση και μόνιμη λειτουργία του σταθμού, ώστε να συνεχίσει το κοινωφελές και χρηστικό του έργο.

Announcement of the Journalists' Union of Athens, ESIEA
In relation with the discontinuation of broadcasting of Athens International Radio, the multilanguage program of Athina 9.84 FM, the municipal radio station of the City of Athens, the Board of the Journalist's Union would like to stress that the vague and disorderly situation that prevails in the licensing of radio stations, television stations and frequencies, should not be used as an alibi to shut down the only multilanguage radio station that appeals to immigrants living and working in our country.
Air 104.4 offers, with no commercial motives, information, and entertainment in 16 different languages to immigrants and other fellow citizens who don't speak Greek and who work in our country. The station provides an excellent service, with which it contributes to the preservation of their ties with their countries of origin and the preservation of their cultural identity. The Journalist's Board of the Union asks for the immediate and permanent operation of the radio station, so that it will be able to continue it's charitable and useful work.
